Why Is The Unemployment Benefits Not Taxed?

I feel so disappointed with the plans of the government in the coming years. Along with the forthcoming proclamation of the newly elected president of the country is the proposal of increasing the current 12 percent value added tax to 15 percent. Can you just imagine how big that increase they’re asking from the people. I mean I could still remember how all the commodities hiked their prices when the value added tax was increased to 12 percent from 10 percent several years back. You can just imagine how this proposed three percent increase would affect not only the commodities but almost everything. This is just not fair, and it will never be fair. Why is it that the unemployment benefits not taxed? I know that the government is just trying to look for ways to raise more funds to run the government and to pay for the foreign debts of the country, but this proposal is just not fair. For the incoming president, I hope you would think it over for millions of times before you decide to implement it.
