One of the most popular reasons for rental cars is to provide dependable transportation for vacations, frequent travelers or for anyone who has their own automobile in the repair shop and is in need of a temporary vehicle. Among the most popular rental car agencies are Hertz, Avis and Enterprise. In exchange for a fee, these companies allow drivers to rent the automobile of their choice on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

One of the most important considerations, aside from the type of vehicle being rented, is the optional insurance coverage. This service, which is relatively inexpensive, will cover any damages sustained while the automobile is in the customers care. Generally, if insurance is not purchased, the customer may be held financially responsible for any damages that occur while the automobile is in their possession. While on the road, anything can happen. From the slightest fender bender to a scratched door or even worse, when lifes unexpected events occur, insurance coverage is often the only link between minimal out-of-pocket expenses or financial ruin.

When considering rental cars, it is important to know the age limits, if any, for each state. Upon selecting an automobile, the car rental agency will provide a written agreement, which must be signed and dated by the customer. In order to rent an automobile, the customer must be able to provide a valid credit card in order to confirm the reservation. In most cases, the credit card is used only to hold the reservation and is not actually charged until the rental period expires or as specified in the rental agreement. At the time that the car is returned, the customer will have the option of either having his/her credit card charged or paying in cash. Regardless of the final payment method, however, customers are required to provide a credit card before taking possession of the automobile as a confirmation that the rental agency will receive payment.

Depending on the agency offering rental cars, there may be mileage limits. In some cases, there is a fee if a certain amount of mileage is used. For others, unlimited miles may be available. Upon taking possession of rental cars, most agencies will make sure that they are washed and filled with fuel. When they are returned to the rental agency, most expect that the fuel tank will be refilled and the car will again be washed. In addition, all rental cars are due back at the agency at a specified time of day or the customer may incur a late fee. It is important that all cars be returned promptly or the rental agency be notified if there is an unforseen delay in the cars return.

Worn brake pads can adversely impact your ability to bring your car to a halt. This can be especially dangerous in an emergency situation when adequately working brakes are a must to help you stop your car promptly. Throw in your local taxes and the price quoted should be within 95% of the final cost, barring an unforeseen additional problem being detected [for example, brake master cylinder failure].

    If you feel reasonably confident that you can do the work yourself, you stand to save yourself plenty of money, at least in labor costs. You can save money with parts, too, by shopping around; the highest prices you pay will likely be through your dealers parts department. Prices at a national auto parts supply store should be lower, while prices through an online wholesaler should be about the lowest available as they purchase directly from the manufacturer.

    If you decide to purchase online, only obtain parts from a reputable dealer selling parts from trusted manufacturers. Be careful of those sites selling generic parts from overseas merchants. Make sure that you can return what you purchase, if needed, to address in based in the U.S.

    Spending Plan – A Nice Word For Budget

    To many people the word budget implies something constraining and negative. But a budget is really nothing more than a spending plan. By planning how and when you will spend your money, you are really just living within a budget.

    A budget is an essential element in money management. If you do not know where and when money is going to be spent, there is simply no way to control it. If you are not made of money, and who among us is, then control measures must be in place to maximize the money you do have.

    Years ago when I was first married, my husband sat me down and wanted to discuss the budget. I cringed at those words. I didnt want to be told how or when I was going to spend money. So he changed his tactic and told me that we needed to work on our spending plan. Now, that got my attention. I liked the idea of knowing that we were going to be doing something about spending! Just changing the words allowed me to be more open to the idea.

    In developing your spending plan, you must first keep careful records of what and where you are currently spending your money. This can be as simple as just writing down items in a notebook or as complex as buying some financial software to keep track of purchases. You may even consider keeping a folder or envelope in the car or in your purse where you can keep receipts. One of the most important elements though is recording every purchase. Keep all those receipts and write down every time you spend money, whether it is a cash purchase, by check, credit card, automatic payment, or withdrawal from the ATM. Later, you can put these purchases into categories and identity your spending pattern. How much of your money goes to food, eating out, gas, clothing, housing, car payments, etc. It will take some time to train yourself to do this, but once you establish this habit, it will go a long way to helping you really control your spending. Once you have identified your current spending, then you are ready to make a plan for future spending.

    Developing a spending plan is one step to gaining control of your money and making the most of what you have.

    How Biking Will Help You Lose 10 Pounds

    In place of the gym, you can ride a bicycle. Most city streets have bicycle lanes and some highways have separate areas for bikes. Meanwhile, some buildings have no parking lots for cars, yet have plenty of room for bicycles. And bicycles are pollution-free and dont use gasoline. As you can see, biking has its advantages.

    By biking to work and to run errands, you get a double deal: you get exercise and get to your destination. This way, you dont need to set aside special time just for exercising. As a result, you look forward to your routine and lose 10 pounds.

    You dont try to avoid or put off biking, unlike going to the gym. The gym may seem like hard work, yet biking looks fun. On weekends, you can also bike for recreation. Take along your family or friends and enjoy the fresh air.

    Have you considered mountain biking? If you can gather up a group of friends, a 20-30 mile bike ride through trails can be an unforgettable experience.

    Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: An Overview

    What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

    There are 8 bones in our wrists called carpals. They form a tunnel like structure. That is how carpal tunnel got its name. Finger movements are controlled by flexor tendons, which are found within this tunnel. The median nerve reaches sensory cells in the hand, through this pathway of tunnel.

    Carpal tunnel syndrome.is a painful and progressive condition that occurs in the wrist. It is caused by the compression of the median nerve in the wrist. The median nerve runs into the hand starting from the forearm. When it becomes squeezed or pressed at the wrist, its message carrying and receiving ability from the brain gets inhibited. It is not necessary that the whole median nerve be pressed to cause carpal tunnel syndrome. The syndrome is caused when a point on the nerve is pressed. As a result of this compression the nerve does not function properly and causes carpal tunnel syndrome.

    1 out of every 100 people is affected by carpal tunnel syndrome at some point in their life. It is commonly caused in the women of the age group of 30-50 years. Carpal tunnel syndrome is also known as Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). Carpal tunnel syndrome is inclusive of the (RSI) related soft tissue injuries.

    What Causes Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

    Though there are various possibilities behind the cause of carpal tunnel syndrome, the basic cause is the compression of tunnel walls. As the tunnel walls compress, they put pressure on the median nerve. As the median nerve gets stressed, it causes carpal tunnel syndrome.

    Congenital predisposition is also a cause of carpal tunnel disorder. In a majority of cases the carpal tunnel is smaller than the normal, which causes the median nerve to stress.

    The syndrome can develop quickly, if the wrist has been fractured or injured. Rheumatoid Arthritis is also a cause of carpal tunnel syndrome.

    In some cases repetitive stress induced carpal tunnel strain causes this syndrome. If a persons occupation involves, gripping, typing or digging, the hand gets strained and it directly strains the median nerve.

    Repetitive wrist and hand action results in the injury and swelling of the subcutaneous tissues. These tissues include muscle, ligament, fascia, sheaths, tendon, blood vessels and peripheral and retinaculum nerve. Due to the small and restricted passage of the tunnel, these swollen tissues can compress together and create concentrated pressure.

    Carpal tunnel syndrome can also be caused due to some trauma based incidents. These causes include fracture or injury of the wrist or one of the arm bones. Internal hemorrhaging in the wrist leads to formation of hematoma which causes the syndrome. If any one of the carpal bones of the wrist gets dislocated, it leads to carpal syndrome. Obesity is another common cause of carpal tunnel syndrome. Women who take contraceptive pills can also go on to develop this condition.

    Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

    The early symptoms include tingling, numbness and burning in the thumb and the index and middle fingers. People suffering from this syndrome, find it hard to grip things, or make a fist. The symptom grows to a severe pain in the hand and restricts the movement of the hand at all. A person gradually loses his ability to squeeze things. They may even find it very hard to tie their shoe laces and picking things up becomes a challenge.

    In the worst cases of carpal tunnel syndrome, the patients are unable to differentiate between hot and cold things by touch.

    Who is at Risk?

    People who are involved in assembly line work are at the maximum risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome. However it can also develop in the people who are constantly related to any of the following activities or professions:

    Video games
    Computer keyboard typing or typewriter typing
    Musical instruments
    Driving a vehicle
    Surgeons and Dentists
    People involved in exhaustive activity of hands like drilling, digging.

    Treatment Available.

    Avoiding repetitive and exhaustive activities related to hand movement, is the first instruction for someone suffering with carpal tunnel syndrome. The patient must abstain from such activities in order to give relief to their hand and free the median nerve of pressure.

    Stretching exercises also helps in treating the syndrome as exercising helps in maintaining blood flow normal in the nerves.

    Medicines like corticosteroid and prescription based NSAIDs can help in relieving the syndrome. If the condition gets worse, there is the option of surgery.

    You should consult your doctor immediately if you feel you may be suffering with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

    History Behind The Hat: The Story Of The Magician

    The concept of magician as entertainer has its roots deep in human history, but mostly dates back to the sixteenth century. Prior to this time, those who practiced magic claimed to have supernatural powers. When this idea clashed with Christianity in the Western world, new magicians, who entertained audiences, emerged.

    Chevalier Joseph Pinetti impressed audiences in the late 1700s with his tricks as an escapist and mentalist. Illusionists emerged in the nineteenth century, using devices to produce elaborate stage shows. One of the first magicians to use live animals was

    “Hermann the Great,” who performed disappearing acts and levitation tricks with the animals. Later, famous magicians Siegfried and Roy gained fame in part because of their elaborate show and tigers.

    Harry Houdini, perhaps the most well known magician of all time, developed elaborate escape tricks including handcuffs and locked chambers in the early 1900s. His death on Halloween is now also known as “National Magic Day.” Houdini also created grand illusions, some of which magician David Copperfield emulated. During Houdini’s time, Vaudeville acts included and promoted magic tricks.

    Over time, the interest in magic has come and gone, although it enjoyed a revival in the 1970s that continues today. Many magicians, similar to other performers, develop a unique style or focus on a particular type of illusion. David Copperfield makes large objects disappear. Lance Burton employs many birds, and Penn and Teller are known for their unique style. Most recently, David Blaine gained fame for his street magic and outrageous stunts.

    Magicians of all sorts keep their secrets very secret. The appeal of magic is trying to figure out how magicians accomplish those amazing feats. For those interested in learning magic, many sources are available for the entry-level magician. Some well-known tricks are “out in the open,” and beginning magic kits can help a beginner learn the tricks of the trade. Many books and other resources are available for card tricks as well. Many stores carry magical wares as well.

    For those who are serious about the craft, two organizations are devoted entirely to magic, both with headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. The Society of American Magicians and the International Brotherhood of Magicians have chapters throughout the world, provide information, and hold conferences. For those
    seeking information, these are good places to begin. Your local library is also a good place to find more information, as is the Internet. However, online sources in particular are varied in quality and information, so beginning with one of the organizations may be a better way to begin.

    The allure of magic is very real. Throughout the past few decades, magicians have taken magic to a new level, with elaborate stunts and full-out entertainment spectacles. From amazing card tricks to large disappearing acts, magic will likely continue to enthrall audiences worldwide for years to come. It is a performance art unlike any other, and the mystery associated with magic adds a level of intrigue that does not exist with other performance arts.

    How do you get the money you need for your business?

    Sounds simple, well it is. First, know who your investors are. If you are looking for a small business loan you are most likely going to approach a bank. A bank will look at you and your business and ask, is this a good investment for us to loan them money. Then they look at their criteria of determining risk and make a decision to move forward with approving your loan request or not.

    So again, knowing what the bank is looking for is key. Every bank has their unique system for determining a loan approval. In most instances you need a good personal credit score, at least two years in business and a business credit profile. You lower your risk as an investment for the bank the longer you are in business, the higher your personal credit score is and the more positive information you have on your business credit report.

    When applying for credit you will find some banks accept a lower personal credit score then others. The banks have a choice of three Credit Bureaus to purchase your credit report from. Each Credit Bureau will have a different formula to determine your credit score, so you actually have three different personal credit scores.

    We recently had a client receive a $50,000 unsecured business line of credit after applying on their own at two banks and not receiving an approval. We were able to help this client because her personal credit score with Equifax was a 633, while at Experian she had a 685. The banks she went to bought the Equifax report and we sent her to a bank that purchased her Experian report. Having the knowledge of your credit scores from each bureau will help you decide if you can apply for a business line of credit or not.

    NASCAR and their premier division “Nextel Cup” is the second most watched sport in America, only the NFL tops it for attendance and television audiences. On any given weekend during the season, more race fans pack race tracks to capacity, than any major sporting event… All-star Game, Superbowl, or PGA Golf Tournament. The website ‘NASCAR.com’ gets over ONE BILLION hits a year

    The Nextel Cup features 26 weekly races, plus a 10 race playoff type schedule. It’s the only sport that has what’s called “It’s Superbowl” as the first race of the season. The Daytona 500 is viewed by over 30 million, over 180 thousand pack the grandstands and infield each year for that event.

    This sport that many assume their fans to be white, male, and southern. Well, that assumption is just plain wrong. NASCAR’s fan base is made up by 40% woman, in fact, NASCAR has more women watching, than the NFL or Major League Baseball. These sponsor names cash in on that loyalty…Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans drink Budweiser, you won’t find a lot of Tony Stewart fans setting one foot inside a LOWE’s, because Tony is sponsored by “Home Depot”, Jeff Gordon fans paint with nothing but Dupont paint, etc. It cost 10 to 20 million per year for the top teams to be competitive and Corporate America is more than happy to cough up that kind of cash for what they get in return. It costs sponsor’s around a million and a half dollars a season just to have their company name on the trunk lid of a top Nextel Cup car.

    The drivers are the stars and they offer everything from: good looking, ugly, fat, tall, thin, smart, dumb, intelligent, stupid, macho, wimpy, young and old. You can’t find another sport that offers the drama week in and week out that a NASCAR Nextel Cup race offers.

    Symptoms Rheumatoid Arthritis & Foods Help Preventing

    I did a lot of searching online, and it was clear that there is plenty of related information, but there is little directly about symptoms rheumatoid arthritis. I hope the following will be interesting to you.

    Signs of arthritis rheumatism, spinal arthritis, gout arthritis, and/or arthritis in the feet for example can remain hidden for decades. By the time arthritis x-rays reveal signs of arthritis, the arthritis has already advanced. Patients with spinal arthritis, cervical arthritis, shoulder arthritis, and/or psoriatic arthritis for instance are often unaware that they even have arthritis.

    Arthritis diagnosis includes the possibility that a person may have multiple forms of arthritis such as: cervical arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, arthritis in hands, and/or lupus arthritis. Proper arthritis treatment of an arthritis diagnosis, arthritis symptoms, and/or signs of arthritis depend on a correct arthritis diagnosis of the specific disease.

    Foods To Help Arthritis

    Does eating certain foods help to cure arthritis? Conversely, is the elimination of certain foods any help in controlling this debilitating and painful disease?? With over 100 different forms of arthritis and not a lot of research into its causes and cures, the debate rages on.

    Because the symptoms of arthritis often seem to come and go without warning its hard to tell whether any sudden relief was due to a new diet or not. It is important for the sufferer to be able to choose a new treatment because it makes him feel to some degree in control of his life and also gives hope, an important consideration.

    Researchers have discovered that a diet including too many calories can actually aggravate RA, while 5% of sufferers in another study showed a flare-up of symptoms after drinking milk. A reduction of fat, dairy and red meat was shown to relieve pain. In 1998, Finnish researchers found that the addition of lactobacillus improved symptoms of RA. This was supported by animal experiments, where mice given lactobacillus were found to be less likely to develop the disease and their immune systems were more able to cope with it if they did.

    One thing to remember when following any diet is that the nutrients lost through the elimination of any foods must be replaced by other means. Certain foods or food groups often seem to cause a worsening of arthritis symptoms. In this case, an elimination diet could be helpful. All suspected foods must be completely eliminated from the diet for several weeks, then reinstated one at a time over a period of several days. If the symptoms of pain and inflammation re-occur after each food is eaten again, then it could be a culprit. This should be done at least three times to determine that there were no other factors involved. If an elimination diet is followed, it is wise to keep two diaries. One of the food eaten and at what times and dates, the other of the dates and times of pain flare-ups. When the two are compared, it will be plain to see what was eaten that could have caused pain.

    Some of the food groups that are suspected of causing pain are the nightshade group ie, white potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and bell peppers. Others are red meat, lemons, grapefruit, corn, wheat, rye and milk, eggs coffee, sugar and cheese.

    One of the main studies done way back in the 1950s has shown that fish oil has a very beneficial affect on arthritis pain. Fish oil supplements are widely taken, but in some cases cause unwelcome side effects like a fishy after-taste, gas and an upset stomach. Some researchers recommend simply adding omega 3s to the diet by eating cold-water fish like mackerel, herring, tuna, salmon, anchovies, bluefish and mullet.

    Another study, researched and supported by the University of Manchester, discovered that people with high levels of beta-cryptoxanthin were 40% less likely to develop arthritis. This is classed as a pro-vitamin A carotenoid which can be found in all yellow or orange- fleshed fruits and vegetables. It enhances bone, skin and immune health. Pumpkin, winter squash and peppers are the vegetables with the highest levels of beta-cryptoxanthin, while tangerines, persimmons and papayas are the fruits with the highest levels.

    Respect Large Trucks, Stay Safe on the Road

    Passenger vehicle operators – not truck drivers – cause approximately 70 percent of all fatal crashes involving a car and commercial truck, according to federal government statistics.

    Most accidents are the result of an unsafe driving act, such as following a truck too closely or lingering in its blind spot.

    The following precautions will help you safely share the road with large trucks:

    * Beware of blind spots. Approximately 35 percent of truck-related auto fatalities occur in a truck’s blind spots. Tractor trailers have very large blind spots -; as much as 30 feet behind the truck. Always try to pass on the left side; the blind spot on the right side is much larger (running the length of the truck and extending out nearly three lanes).

    * Stay back. When following a truck, try to maintain a distance of 20 to 25 car lengths. Driving too closely behind a truck gives you little or no time to react to changing conditions.

    * When passing a truck, do not loiter in the blind spot. Before moving back into the truck’s lane, be sure you can see its headlights in your rearview mirror. Most fully-loaded semi trucks driving at highway speeds need 100 yards – that’s one football field – to come to a safe stop. Leave them plenty of space.

    * Pay attention. Driver inattentiveness is the most common unsafe driving act that results in a truck-related auto fatality.

    * Heed the weather. Poor conditions make it more difficult to drive safely around big trucks. Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC reminds you that statistics show nearly 1 million vehicle accidents a year occur in wet weather.

    When it’s raining, slow down, turn on your lights, drive smoothly and maintain a safe distance. If you start to hydroplane, take your foot off the accelerator (if manual transmission, engage the clutch) and don’t slam on your brakes.

    * Properly maintain your tires. A tire cannot provide good traction on wet roads once the tread is worn below 2/32 of an inch tread depth. Check your tires regularly and replace them at the proper time. Don’t forget to maintain the proper air pressure in your tires; tire pressure should be checked monthly.

    Senate Takes Up Debate On Regular Marriage

    The Senate, fresh from its rancorous but indecisive debate on a constitutional amendment that would have banned same-sex marriage, has now taken up debate on an amendment that would ban regular marriage.

    A leading Republican senator stated, When you consider how high the divorce rate is, you know there are a lot of unhappy marriages out there between men and women. Im not sure continuing to allow them is in the national interest.

    The Democratic whip said, In addition to the divorce rate, youve got to look at how many parents are disappointed in the amount of gratitude their children show and how many children dont think their parents love them enough. Since parents usually want more gratitude than their children can give, and children often demand more love than most parents can give, it seems theres an inherent problem with a marriage that can produce children.

    President Bush took an unwavering position, saying, The kind of marriage we allow in America has to set a good example for the children of this great nation, and, frankly, I dont think a lot of marriages out there are hitting that high marker. So I urge the Congress to pass the amendment. No more regular marriages, no more bad examples for our children its as simple as that. And the result is guaranteed, because, in all likelihood, there wont be anymore children.

    Digital Printing vs. the Traditional Method in Photography

    Over the past years, technology has been continuously evolving and it has brought about improved graphics, artworks and printing. Newer breakthroughs in technology have also made printing affordable and easy to use.

    For photographers too, printing has been made very easy and consultative. More photographers have switched from the old style to the modern enlarged printing with the use of digital inkjet printers.

    With the modern use of digital cameras now taking into effect to make perfect digital shots, photographers no longer have to go through the process of scanning of the negatives from the pictures taken This is the one of the main reasons more photographers have switched over to the digital age technology.
    Digital image printing is developed in corresponding software such as PhotoShop, CorelDraw and may other types of software. However, among them all, Photoshop is the most commonly used software application to meet the demands of clearer and precise digital prints. In fact, it has now become difficult for photographers to sell the equipment formerly used in the darkroom.

    With the growth of printing technology, new issues have also sprung up, such as whether digital printing is really as aesthetic and long lasting. Critics wonder if digital printing can contain the same level of output as that of traditional images. For others, printing in inkjet printers is akin to imitating the original as they are printed with the use of ink, while the traditional method contained natural mixture for photography purposes. Nevertheless, even with the advancement in digital photo printing, a number of people still appreciate the old technique of printing.

    In case youre wondering about when the debate of digital printing over traditional was sparked off, it started with doubts over the long-lasting effect of inkjet prints over emulsion printouts. Critics have questioned if inkjet prints can endure the exposure longer and maintain their quality. However, some have proven that the traditional prints have not lasted as long and have slowly been fading in time as well. This observation strengthens the belief that no image can withstand exposure for a long period of time yet. Given that the developments in digital technology are ever increasing, questions and issues regarding its performance have been lessened for it has played its role well till date.

    Inkjet prints have greatly contributed to giving an eventual effect in the uniqueness of images. The technique of inkjet printers involves spraying a number of tiny dots onto the paper, making the image sharper and more defined. This is perhaps a simple example of how the new printing technology has played its part of contributing to creativity and has now defined its own field of artwork.

    The acceptance of inkjet prints has been quite unpredictable so far. In some exhibitions and art galleries, inkjet print designs are easily allowed, whereas some follow strict rules against the display of such prints. Alternatively, some designers still prefer the traditional emulsion prints to be part of their artworks. For those who rely on digital printing, the choice is based on practicality and reverting to the traditional technique is not longer financially viable. Digital printing has also made enlarging of prints and images much easier than traditional printing. It has been suggested that in time, when digital printing will continue its rise in the world of technology, many will make the switch over from the traditional method to the digital one.

    The use of digital printing requires refinement in art skills, and accuracy and precision should be followed and maintained. To enhance printing abilities, the aid of Photoshop, or similar types of software can prove to be very useful for acquiring spectacular prints.

    Cyan And Magenta Explained
    Moving on to ink cartridges used in printers, anybody who has purchased these cartridges would know that there is no blue or red ink. Cyan certainly looks blue and magenta definitely looks red but have you ever wondered why they simply dont call them blue and red instead of cyan and magenta?

    Heres the explanation both monitors and printers use different ways to produce colour. While a monitor is a light source, printers are light reflecting. The only common ground between the two is something known as dithering. It is the process of approximating a colour that cannot be displayed with uniformly dispersed dots of other colours.

    This technique assigns differing colour values to adjacent pixels, thereby reducing the contrast between dots of different colours or shades and generates a more flowing, natural impression. When viewed from a distance, these colours seem to blend into a single intermediate colour. Dithering is similar to the half toning used in black-and-white publications to achieve shades of grey.

    Coming back to the discussion, both monitors and printers use primary colours; however, a monitor uses primary additive colours red, green and blue, while printers use the primary subtractive colours cyan, magenta and yellow. In both cases, the primary colours are dithered to form the entire colour spectrum. Dithering breaks a colour pixel into an array of dots so that each dot is either made up of one of the basic primary colours or intentionally left blank to create white.

    Cyan and magenta are in fact old printing terms for blue and red, but since some form of differentiation is needed between the additive and subtractive spectrum, cyan and magenta are here to stay!
